modern silver heart bracelet by Christine Sadler that is special and different

Not Another Heart!

Heart shaped jewellery has been adored for centuries.

In the 14th Century, hearts became a symbol for love so it is no surprise that jewellers adopted this shape in their designs.

Over 700 years later, hearts are still a popular choice but I wanted to make our heart jewellery modern and recognisably different to other hearts. A real challenge, because it still has to be heart.

Many jewellers use hearts and to make them different, they brand them with their logo. Here's a selection of modern heart earrings from Tiffany, Guess, Pandora and Gucci.

Remove the name, there's really nothing different about these designs that mean you could tell one from the other.

If you think about it, why would you want a heart with a company's name on it? The very essence of what a piece of heart jewellery should be is a symbol of a connection you share with the person gifting it to you, not with a corporation.

For that reason, our silver heart jewellery designs come in pairs.

One to represent the person giving the gift and one for the person they are giving it to. In order for the hearts to sit well next to each other, I changed the shape of the heart so that each one has a flat side that allows it to touch the other heart without overlapping. This created a unique shape where the top of the heart has a curve that sits higher on one side. This side is drilled to have the ring attached through it. It looks as if the heart is slightly stretched from hanging. A subtle detail that gives this heart shape a dynamic energy.

One heart is larger than the other. It makes this design even more unique. The two hearts are not the same. This shows that there are two different individuals connecting. The large heart has a brushed finish and the small heart is polished. Again, this emphasises that these represent two separate and distinct people.

This modern design also expresses what it feels like when two hearts connect in real life.

The heart sits in the chest, two thirds on the left hand side. When you hug someone, the right hand side of your body is in contact with the left of theirs. This is the mutual gift of an embrace. Your heart fills the empty right side of their body with your heartbeat and theirs fills yours. This musical connection of vibrating energy is one of the things that make a close connection really special.

Design, like language, is not a radical departure from the past, but a subtle change that aims to express something more complex and more accurately than we could before.

It's the emphasis on the connection between two people that makes my silver heart jewellery special and different.

We can also set the hearts with a gemstone of your choice to make it even more personal.

This is not just another heart shaped piece of jewellery. This collection, called From The Heart, is a very special way to express how much you value the emotional connection you share.
