A Present From The Past

When you inherit jewellery, it is a shame not to give it new life. Often old jewellery needs a little TLC and if it isn't your style it can also benefit from a redesign.

My customer inherited a very traditional sapphire and diamond ring. The sapphire was set in an east west position and had a lot of metal around the stones.

There was a scroll detail on the side of the ring. My customer wanted a simpler, more elegant design that focused on the beauty of the stones. 

All gemstones show some wear over time, especially in a ring as rings take more knocks than necklaces or earrings. 
The sapphire and diamonds were unset and the sapphire was repolished to look like new. The diamonds, being harder, didn't need repolished. A new platinum ring was made and the stones set in an elegant but modern style.

This ring was given as a birthday gift. In a way, it's this ring's birthday too in its new form. A very special present from the past.
