Fall In Love With Your Diamonds Again - Jewellery Remodelling

My task was to redesign a ring so that my customer would fall in love with it again.

Originally it had been a solitaire. She had it remodelled elsewhere several times. She changed it to a three stone ring. It still didn't have the right appearance for her and so she was advised to go for five stones in a straight.

She brought this ring to me and shared its history. She felt these beautiful diamonds had never been in a design that showed them off to their best.

I understood straight away what the problem was. Baguette diamonds are beautiful. They have lines of sparkle but when put side by side with a lot of metal around them, they can be underwhelming, especially if you want more sparkle. If you want intense sparkle, you need diamonds with more facets. The ring was too simple and too unimaginative in design. 

To fix this, I added drama to the ring design by separating the stones and setting them at different angles with small claws. This shows each diamond individually without them blending into each other.

Instead of one heavy band, three narrow bands hold the five diamonds and span across the front of the finger, tapering into one solid band the back. This adds lightness to the design and ensures the focus is on the diamonds. The tapered section at the back makes this ring very comfortable to wear.

The final flourish was to add twelve sparkling round diamonds to the centre band.
This remodelling commission transformed a simple ring into a spectacular piece of fine jewellery. I know this diamond ring will be much admired and much loved after its beauty makeover.
